SENATOR JEAN PRESTON

PCPS WELCOMED SENATOR JEAN PRESTON

PCPS was happy to have a special visitor on Thursday, March 22nd 2012. Senator Jean Preston visited with students in Ms. Jackie Davis' classroom.  Ms. Jackie's students were introduced to the Senator by their classmate, Stephen Ross.  Then the students eagerly shared their knowledge of the alphabet by playing a game with their teacher.  The visit was concluded with gifts to thank the senator for visiting and a group picture. Senator Preston returned later in the day to eat lunch in our school cafeteria. Thank you Senator Preston for making the time to visit our school.

We love our PTO!

Thank you to our PTO for all you do for the staff and students at PCPS!  From the Valentine's Day treats to making our school beautiful, we can't thank you enough!

Be sure to visit our school and look at the beautiful decorations down the main hallway, lunchroom and front doors!  We love our awesome PCPS PTO!

Ronald McDonald shares his love of reading with PCPS

Ronald McDonald Visits PCPS

 By Elijah Fieber
Ronald McDonald told everybody books are our friends.

He also told us to how to take care of books, not to rip pages out or don’t throw books. We can catch the reading bug to make us smarter. It was fun to see him do magic tricks and act funny.

On Wednesday, November 30th, Ronald McDonald visited Pamlico County Primary School to share his love of reading with the students.  The visit was called, "It's Book Time with Ronald McDonald."

Ronald held students captivated with his magic tricks, juggling and enthusiasm for reading.  Some of his reading tips for our students were to read with excitement, catch the reading bug and take good care of library books.

It was a real treat to have Ronald McDonald visit our school.  Thank you to Ronald McDonald and McDonalds for giving all the students a free hamburger or cheeseburger coupon and all the teachers a free fruit smoothie or frappe.

Fire safety at PCPS

Fire safety at PCPS

by Chance Caraway

The New Bern and Pamlico fire departments’ visit to our school was very nice. They came to our school and showed us their equipment and fire trucks. They brought a little fire house and they let us crawl through it.

They told us to never play with an iron because it can hurt you and never play with matches or lighters.  They also told us not to play with the fire place. My favorite part was climbing down the ladder of the fire house.

** The New Bern and Pamlico Fire Departments visited our school on December 1st and 2nd to teach our students about fire safety.  Special thanks to the firemen, volunteers and Mr. Richard May for coordinating this visit.**
